Would-be burglars get the fright of their lives when homeowner yells at them through smart doorbell as they try to break into his house in Canada

  • Clem Ho turned on a live feed to his doorbell camera and saw a man dressed as a postman
  • The would-be thief then radios a second man who arrives only moments later 
  • But when Clem shouts the shocked men quickly walk away from the doorstep

A homeowner stopped two men from from breaking into his home after shouting ‘get away from the door’ through his smart doorbell.

In footage recorded on Clem Ho’s doorbell camera one of the would-be thieves, who is dressed as a postman, is seen trying to wedge open the door with a screwdriver.

After he partially wedges open the door, Clem gives the men the fright of their lives when he shouts and the visibly shocked pair to quickly walk away from the doorstep. 

Speaking to CTV Edmonton, Clem, who shared the footage on YouTube, said: ‘By the time the second guy showed up, I knew it was a matter of seconds. 

 ‘Adrenaline was running high. 

‘He makes three or four really hard attempts [to get in].

‘The first thing that popped into my mind was to say ‘get away from the door’.

Clem was alerted to his doorbell being rung by a notification on his phone.

He then turned on a live feed to his doorbell camera he saw the first man who was carrying a mail bag and wore a safety vest.

But after ringing the bell several times and looking through the door he pulls out a walkie talkie from his pocket and radios a second man.

The second man arrives and pulls a large screwdriver out of his backpack and passes it to the man in the safety vest who uses it to try and wedge open the door

Seconds after, a man wearing an New York Yankees baseball cap walks up the drive to the doorstep.

He pulls a large screwdriver out of his backpack and passes it to the man in the safety vest. 

He then wedges the screwdriver in the door several times before Clem scares the men off.

Edmonton police are investigating the attempted break-in.
