I have been searching the Web over for the sound byte of Sophia saying "Open Your Eyes" on David Ames' alarm clock, with no luck.

Then, boom! http://www.vanillasky.com starts out with exactly that phrase, over and over again. So, I recorded it using voice recorder, and converted it to an alarm.

Attached is the WAV file. Enjoy!

Hmm, looks like attached files on this forum need to be approved before posting.

I've also put it online here (http://angstudio.com/audio/vanillasky.zip).

I've been looking for this, too! Thanks.

Now if I can only figure out how to beam it from my laptop to my NX70...

So how do you make that vanilla sky wav file into an alarm sound?

You have to use one of Sony's applications called Sound Converter that came on your original installation CD. It will allow you to convert a .wav file to a .pdb file that your Clie World Alarm clock (and other compatible apps) can use for alarms. Once the conversion is complete, I think it automatically puts it in your install folder for the next time you HotSync.

I just tried to do the conversion in Sound Converter and it did not work. Said that the file format could not be converted. My guess is that it does not meet the following requirements for sound converter.

SMF Only Format 0 is supported. The file will be cut to 64KB if the file size is greater than 64KB after conversion.

WAVE Formats listed below are supported. 8kHz, 16bit, stereo 8kHz, 16bit, mono 8kHz, 8bit, stereo 8kHz, 8bit, mono 22kHz, 16bit, stereo 22kHz, 16bit, mono 22kHz, 8bit, stereo 22kHz, 8bit, mono

These requirements came from the 'Help' file for Sound Converter.

Hmm, that's weird, cuz I copied it straight from my NX70 to my computer, zipped it up and then posted it. You've unzipped it right? Does it play normally on your computer?

Steps to convert the file:

1) download the ZIP file. Unzip the WAV. should be called 030516000.wav or something like that. The Wav should be less than 64k.

2) connect your NX and run MS IMPORT.

3) copy the wav file into your PALM/programs/MSSOUND/ folder

4) Run Voice Recorder

5) Bring up drop-down menu, under DATA there should be 'Convert to Alarm'

6) Convert it (checkbox the sound then tap alarm)

7) To verify, run SoundUtl and scroll down to the bottom of sounds. It should be there at the bottom.

Let me know if it's still having problems! :)

I'm sorry , kids, but not having seen Vanilla Sky, I just find that a little to creepy for a wake up alarm. I plan on seeing it, so don't spoil it for me.... I have a file of Gollum saying "My precious" that's fun to play to unsuspecting people as well. Off to the video store...:)

Got the file converted, and it appears in sound utility and the native palm datebook application. However, the file doesn't appear as an alarm option in either Agendus or BugMe. Any ideas????

mdicembre,

Not all apps make use of these alarms. The app has to be programmed to recognize them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the film, isnt it actually Julie Juliana's voice that awakens David not Spohia's. Has anyone got a sample of that?

I thought it was both of them, each say the lines at one point or another.

I loved that movie... :D

It's been quite awhile since I saw the movie, but wasn't the alarm clock a "CD" alarm clock? You could just burn whatever songs or recordings you want onto a cdr. Most likely, the JVC Alarm clock model was something JVC, as a sponsor, supplied as a prototype to show off in the movie.
