Zire 71 unable to reset

Yesterday my Zire 71 went into a freeze for no reason (I wasn't even using it). The screen was frozen on the "ZIRE" reset screen and I couldn't soft or hard reset it. It wasn't until the battery was completely dead that I was able to charge it and get it back. Anyone have this happen before and is there a solution other than waiting until the nattery is dead?

I haven't see this myself, but some times a double soft reset works. Ohter times, its a warm reset fillowed by either a standard soft reset or hard reset. I also haven't see an explaination for why this happens.

Oddly, I had this exact problem just two days ago after having my Zire 71 for several months. No matter how I tried to reset it, even a hard reset (which it "seemed" to take, but never resolved the problem). Like you, I just let it sit until it went dead (no choice, really, it wouldn't turn off), then for sure measure I waited another day to ensure the battery was really dead, charged it up, and it came back.

Sounds like a class-problem with the 71 since you ran into it too (I assumed something was simply broken in my unit).

I don't have an answer how to resolve it other than letting it die, then recharging it. I hope this isn't a common problem.
