Russian President Vladimir Putin described Croatia as an “important partner of Russia in Europe and in the Balkans" following bilateral talks with his Croatian counterpart Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, in Sochi on Wednesday. 

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "Our talks with the Croatian President have just finished. I would like to stress that they were held in a constructive manner and demonstrated mutual feelings about comprehensive relationship development. Croatia is the important partner of Russia in Europe and in the Balkans."

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "Special attention has been paid to the traditional area of our relationship – the energy sector. Croatia is a large importer of Russian oil-products."

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "Two million three hundred thousand tonnes of Russian oil has been transited to clients in South-Eastern Europe though Croatian ports and its pipeline system."

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "We hope that the results we have achieved will contribute to further development of Russian-Croatian relations in all areas."

SOT, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Croatian President (Croatian): "Russia is a significant partner for Croatia. We are seeking to expand our bilateral economic cooperation."
