Eagles vs Steelers what to watch. In this preseason preview of the matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles & Pittsburgh Steelers Brandon Perna will break down some of the important positions to watch during the Thursday Night Football game. It’s not Carson Wentz on the sideline.

Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Nick Foles, all will probably not play in this first game of the 2018 NFL preseason. Nick Foles may not play due to some muscle spasms in his neck, which is fine because he does not need the reps after leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory and earning SB MVP. The 4th runningback sport for the Eagles is up for grabs with the starting rotation going to Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, and Darren Sproles, which leaves a competition between Donnel Pumphrey, Wendell Smallwood, Matt Jones, and Josh Adams. The Eagles also need a 4th receiver to emerge. 2nd year players Greg Ward, Mack Hollins, & Shelton Gibson could earn that position as young players in the group. Tight end Dallas “Philly” Goedert is sure to get a lot of work knowing he needs to fill Trey Burton’s role. The biggest area of need for Philly is at the nickel corner & linebacker position.

The Steelers are very high on rookie wide receiver James Washington. If he looks as good as he has in training camp the Steelers may have the best WR group in the NFL. Mason Rudolph is buried on the depth chart but the OSU QB will get reps after being drafted in the 3rd round. Le’Veon Bell will return to the Steelers one day so keep an eye on the backs they have in this game.
