Here we scientifically examine a commonly held myth that expensive running shoes are best. Many shops and coaches advise "buy the best shoe you can afford". But is this really true? What does money really buy in terms of shoes quality, weight, performance or satisfaction? Results may be surprising. Whilst there is some merit in good materials, or a light shoe many surprising bargains can be had if you keep an open mind. We are not saying buy a terrible running shoe, we are saying buy the best for you, and not the most expensive!
